After six years as a Sports Director, Dror Pekatch has decided to take a break from the WorldTour scene and life on the road.
From the team’s early ICA days to three editions of the Tour de France, Dror has been an important part of our journey, developing into a highly respected Sports Director and working at some of the biggest races in the world.
“After six years as a Sports Director and an enormous number of days away from home, which took a heavy toll on my personal life, I felt this was the right time to stop and take a break,” said Pekatch.
“I’m doing it while I’m in a very good place professionally, leaving with a good feeling and great relationships with everyone in the team. These have been the most significant years of my professional life. I learned and developed enormously thanks to this team, which became much more than a home and a family to me.”
Head Sports Director Sam Bewley believes Dror’s break from racing won’t last forever.
“I’ve worked alongside Dror at many races, including the Tour de France, and watched him develop into a highly knowledgeable professional with a huge presence,” said Bewley.
“Anyone who worked with him quickly understood that he was never afraid to say what he thought. Even when you disagreed with him, you always respected his opinion. He brought a lot to our group and he will be missed.
“But I know Dror, and I’m sure professional bike racing will miss him — and that he will miss racing too. So, you never know when we may work together again…”
Dror isn’t closing that door either, adding: “For now, I continue as a fan of this team and, above all, of the incredible people who work here. I hope our paths cross again in the future.”
