NSN Cycling Team is pleased to announce that Moritz Kretschy will step up from the NSN Development Team to the NSN Cycling Team with immediate effect, signing with the team through the end of the 2028 season.

The promotion marks the next step in Kretschy’s progression within the NSN structure after impressing with his performances in the Development Team environment since 2024.

Kretschy’s transition reinforces the team’s commitment to identifying and nurturing emerging talent and providing a pathway to the professional ranks, explains General Manager Kjell Carlström.

“Moritz Kretschy joins what is now quite a long list of riders we have scouted for our development team with a view to promote them to the WorldTour within a short time, and we are excited to see Moritz make that step up mid-season,” says Carlström.

“Initially, the plan had been for Moritz to join us in 2027, but his strong performances this year, notably winning the Tour du Rwanda, and the opportunity to accelerate his growth with the WorldTeam made it an easy decision to sign him with immediate effect.

“Moritz has impressed us with both his leadership qualities in the NSN Development Team and the teamwork he has demonstrated, including the races he has already done with the WorldTour. We are looking forward to working with Moritz to tap into his talent and develop his skills further over the next two and a half years.”

For the 23-year-old German, it’s a dream come true to graduate to the pro ranks.

“I’m so happy that I can step up so early in the season,” adds Kretschy. “This season is still long with almost six more months of racing, so I’m really looking forward to starting at bigger races and to race as a pro. My victory at Tour du Rwanda was a decisive blow, and I could finally show that I can also go for the GC and the team can count on me. That gave me a big push to work even harder and set up new goals.”

As for why Kretschy decided to stay within the NSN structure, it came down to team culture.

He says: “I really like the atmosphere in this team and I felt welcome the first moment I joined this team. The word ‘family’ describes it perfectly – you can always count on each other. I think that’s really important on a level like this to perform well. It makes it even easier to go beyond your limit to support your leader or the other way around to get the result for the team.

“Looking ahead, I want to continue improving and become an important rider for the team in the near future. I’m really looking forward to this new chapter and all the new challenges in the upcoming months.”

Kretschy will officially make his debut in the WorldTeam tomorrow at the Grand Prix du Morbihan in France.
